The Corn Exchange is an iconic Doncaster building at the very heart of the market.
It’s accessible and frequently frequented by Gypsies and Travelles.
We have also heard stories from the communities of the parties they attended within this beautiful building.
So it seemed an ideal venue for our next exhibition.
We were rewarded with many visitors within our first set up day, it is a public venue, many people who would never walk through the door of a museum have seen the exhibition.
One particularly satisfying moment was a non Gypsy man telling us of a great painter of Gypsy wagons “Jimmy Berry” at the very moment that Jimmy Berry’s great granddaughter and great great grandson came to look.
We hope to see there
